Long recognized as a major economic and cultural center, The New York Market is comprised of 20 counties throughout New York State, New Jersey, and Connecticut.
The market is further segmented into New York City, Suburban New York, and Northern New Jersey. Fueled by an Adult 18+ population nearly 16 million strong, the New York DMA leads all other United States markets across a multitude of economic measures, including total retail sales and effective buying income.
This market is corporate headquarters to many companies such as AT&T, Samsung Electronics and Best Foods. Several large pharmaceutical companies including American Home Products, Johnson & Johnson and Schering - Plough are headquartered in the area. In addition, Northern New Jersey is home to the “Miracle Mile,” which is a large industrial development located along the Hudson River. This area is also a financial hub for large investment firms such as Fidelity Investments.
New York City commuters live in the surrounding suburbs of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. The New York market is also noted for its great shopping. From Macy’s and Saks 5th Avenue in New York, to the New Jersey mega-malls, there is an abundance of shopping areas. In addition, the Meadowlands Xanadu project is scheduled for completion in the Fall of 2008. Xanadu will be the largest retail and entertainment complex in the United States with over 4.8 million square feet of entertainment, retail, office, and hotel space. There are also a large number of sports and entertainment complexes throughout the market. Giants Stadium and the Meadowlands Sports Arena and Racetrack in New Jersey draw spectators from the surrounding areas, while New York offers Madison Square Garden, Shea Stadium, Yankee Stadium and the Yonkers Racetrack, to name a few.
Clear Channel Outdoor offers Bulletins, Posters, Transit Shelters, and prime Wall Displays. These units target commuters as they travel the highways, interstates and local arterials connecting New York City to the surrounding suburban areas of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
