Jacksonville is Florida’s northernmost city making it the gateway to the Sunshine State.
In 2005, Jacksonville was the host city for the Super Bowl between the New England Patriots and the Philladelphia Eagles. Super Bowl 39 brought Jacksonville into the national spotlight and the city impressed. Since the big game, Jacksonville’s incredible growth has continued.
The city and the surrounding counties of Duval, Baker, Clay, Nassau, Putnam and St. Johns make up the area called Florida’s First Coast. Northeast Florida shares the wealth of the Sunbelt and the state of Florida, yet has a distinctive business atmosphere all its own. The diverse economy, known for its financial, information services, industrial, distribution and tourism industries, provides a thriving commercial blend that stimulates abundant economic opportunity.
Jacksonville has a diverse economic base and is expanding at a rapid pace. The Better Jacksonville Plan has begun to stimulate further growth in the business and entertainment sectors of the city. The area does not depend heavily on any one major employer or employment sector, however significant strength can be seen in financial and office services, manufacturing, warehousing and distribution, medical and health care products and services, military and sports and recreation activities as well as a thriving mecca for information technology.
Jacksonville is one of the hottest spots in the South for reasons such as its strategic location, great international transportation, low construction costs and appealing taxes/incentives.
Jacksonville’s employment base experiences little seasonal fluctuation. More than a thousand jobs a month are being added to the local work force, making the First Coast a great place for job seekers. Jacksonville has a large available labor force, due primarily to in-migration. Jacksonville is quickly becoming the number one destination in Florida.
